Healthcare spends and insights across the globe
This data story explains how health care spends differ across globe and what are its impact on the population

This is a world map showing health care expenditure by different countries. Notice Most of africa and asia including china and India spend less than 10 % of their GDP on healthcare
While some european nations and USA Spends considerably more

The plot shows infant mortality rates vis - a -vis healthcare expenditure.
Notice countries with least healthcare expenditure have the highest mortality rates

As population of a nation ages usually the expenditure on healthcare goes up

With better healthcare services, mortality rates climb down and so does the birth rates

As depicted by this graph there is virtually no co-relation between urbanisation and healthcare access

This is the global life expectancy map with the number showing the average age of a person there. Notice that life expectancy is higher in countries with high healthcare spend
Now we look specifically at India

Notice that over the years though per person dollar spend on healthcare has increased , there has been a decrease in healthcare expenditure as a % of GDP

With the gradual increase in per capita healthcare expenditure life expectancy has also increased

Over the years with better healthcare infrastructure India has recorded a steady decrease in infant mortality and as a result a lower birth-rate , as depicted above.

As a result of government focus on female health over the years While Male life expectancy has only shown a minor increase , Female life expectancy has jumped by leaps and bounds
